One strategy is, after the deal, if your up cards are a reasonably a low score, knock right away. A tie results in the one who knocks loosing.
If he who knocks is not the lowest score, then he looses and must double his score and drink with the remaining players. Beer etiquette dictates that the winner drinks the first one with the loosers (1 2, 3, 4, etc]. The winner counts off this difference AT HIS OWN PACE! (what comes around goes around). If the player who knocks wins, the remaining players drink sips equaling the difference of their score and the winners. When one thinks he has the lowest hand, he "knocks", and the remaining players have one more turn to better their hands. If he chooses to replace one of the face down cards, he cannot look at it until after he switches it and discards (therefore, it is quite easy to unbeknowingly switch a 3 for a king, bad for you, good for the next player). A player can pick a card or pick up the overturned card and switch it with any one of his four cards.
The remainder of the deck is placed in the center with one card overturned. Kings are ZERO! You can never look at the cards that are face down. All cards 2-10 are worth face value, J and Q's are ten, Ace's eleven. The object is like golf to get the lowest score.
